Fresh Outlines

As of the last post my group and I had scheduled an appointment with Lou's Tattoo's, Monday October 25. Our interest in creating a redesign for their site came from a google search of local tattoo studios. Lou's being one of the top hits, their site appeared as though it had not been updated since 2002. While an initial phone call to the studio seemed promising, upon further description of our project outlines to the client, it was apparent the shop was "uninterested" or "unimpressed" by our proposal. While this was discouraging (mainly because we had already written a brief, site diagram, and assets), it led us to our actual client. Through research and and a call to my first tattoo artist, my group met with Don of Evil Don's Tattoos on Central ave. Although the client has no current site, he has been tattooing in the area for over 20 years and has established a name for himself in the area. In the end I am excited that our leg work for Lou's Tattoos assisted us in finding such a fun project to work on. I am equally excited that as a group we made the client feel comfortable and motivated to work with us. Our client has scheduled a follow up meeting later in the week, during which we will propose a site layout and asset list (general idea of pages to be included). Before the meeting my group will be completing the following:
Project Manager- Revised creative brief
Information Architect- site diagram
Assets Manager- page/asset list

  1. Well this is good that a bad situation led to a new and maybe even better client for you guys. Having a revised and fresh creative is a good idea for the manager because it will give the new client their own identity especially since they don't have an original website to start with.

  2. Its great that you have a client that is willing to work with you. My group is in the same boat where the client wants to be involved and this will definitely make it a lot easier to move along in the design. Its nice that you are scheduling a following up meeting with the client so he can give you feedback on the progress and can request any changes or make suggestions. Maybe you will even end up working out a deal where he will use the site when it is finished. Working with him along the way increases that possibility.

  3. Yay, I'm glad it went well with you guys this evening with your new client...
And the fact is once you said it's FREE, they might reconsider the proposal that you are offering to them.... SAD, but TRUE!

  4. I am glad that you all have actually found someone that is appreciative of FREE work. Because, apparently, free is shadying, underhanded, and/or low-brow. That situation was ridiculous. I'm glad you all resolved this and found a much better client.
I think that you would be best as Project manager, Chris as information architect, and Chelsey as Asset Manager.

  5. the idea of making a tattoo shop website from scratch seems like a blessing, because trying to redesign i feel is tough, because the client has a feeling they want to get across, but sometimes it can be so dramatic when you try to change something they may have spent a lot of time on. but good luck on the new client, he seems like he is up for any change!
